Here are some of the questions we routinely receive about the Arctic Plunge cold tub. If your answer is not found here, please do not hesitate to reach out with your question.

Does the Arctic Plunge cold tub require plumbing? 

No. Our cold tub fills and drains with a garden hose. No plumbing is required.

Do I need to use a pre-filter on my cold tub?

Typically no, but in areas with a lot of minerals in the water, or if you have well water, it is recommended to use a pre-filter. You can purchase a multi-use pre filter here: www.arcticplunge.com/prefilter

Can I use an extension cord with my Arctic Plunge ice bath?

It is not recommended to use an extension cord, as the cord is a safety hazard. 

Can an Arctic Plunge be used indoors and outdoors?

The Arctic Plunge is very heavy duty built with a stainless interior and an aluminum skirt. In most applications the cold tub can be used in outdoor and indoor locations. There are many safety factors to consider.

 

If outside, you need to make sure you cannot touch any electric outlet while you are in the tub. You also need to make sure there are no items that can fall into the tub that are connected to electric. You need to make sure the Arctic Plunge cannot get flooded with a storm. In extremely cold environments you may have to bring your cold tub in during extreme winter months. You need to also consider any moisture damage to the outside area. 

 

If inside, you need to make sure you cannot touch any electric outlet while you are in the tub. You also need to make sure there are no items that can fall into the cold tub that are connected to electric. You need to make sure the Arctic Plunge is in an area where splashing, water or condensation will not damage your interior area (Carpet, drywall, etc.)

How long should I use an Arctic Plunge?

First you should always contact a doctor to verify your health is in good shape for cold water therapy. You should always start with a short period of time. Regular people often work there way up to two minutes. Extreme athletes in extremely good condition often do not ever exceed three minutes.

How do I maintain an Arctic Plunge?

Water changes vary depending on many factors.  Usage (number of people), length of time in the unit, how clean you are when you get into the unit (Pre workout vs post workout), and other factors. Typically, most customers change there water every two to three months.

What chemicals should I use in my Arctic Plunge?

With a stainless-steel interior and cold water bacteria is less likely to form. To clean the stainless steel hydrogen peroxide does a great job. Use caution with the product you use to clean the stainless. Make sure you do not use any abrasive products and always clean in the direction of the grain of the stainless.

What should I do if my Arctic Plunge is outside and it gets cold?

Your Arctic Plunge is built with a antifreeze system that will keep your tub from freezing in cooler temperatures. The antifreeze will keep your tub from freezing to about 10 degrees F. If it is colder than 10 degrees F it is recommended to bring your unit into an area that does not get below 32 degrees F or winterize your Arctic Plunge. You need to remove all water from your Arctic Plunge including but not limited to the tub, filter, chiller, pipes, drain line, and heat exchanger.

How quickly can I use my Arctic Plunge?

Typically, your tub will be ready in 4-8 Hours. Time to cool will vary on how cold you want the water, ambient temperature.

Does my Arctic Plunge have a sanitation system?

 Yes the Arctic Plunge is built in with a ozone sanitization system to make the water stay clean longer and reduce sanitizer needs

Does my Arctic Plunge include a cover?

Yes, it includes an insulating cover. If the tub is anywhere where a child or animal could be present you will need to add a locking strap to the cover.
